Your child is bringing home sight word cards. These are words that your child needs to learn by sight. (They do not need to sound them out/they need to learn by sight) Please review these words with your child each night. Every Thursday your child will be assessed. If your child is able to read the words, they will receive new words. If your child is unable to read a word/words then they will not receive new words to add to their ring and they will need to practice again for the following week. A paper will be sent home each week informing you of the words that your child will be assessed on that following week.

Please keep these in your child’s backpack at all times!! Thank you for your cooperation!!!

I had sent this note home with your child on Sept. 1, 2010, but I found some that were left behind that did not make it into backpacks.

At Open House night I had said that I changed my homework plan and that I would be giving out homework on random days. It was brought to my attention, from a parent that I have had in the past, that she really liked Tuesday homework folders. I would give your child their Tuesday homework folder on Tuesday and then they would have until Friday to return it because I know everyone can have busy nights here and there and I like to make things fair for everyone. I think this is what I am going to go back to, this will begin next week! I hope to be back soon!
